What Does a Mentoring Program Manager Do?

  • Manages the recruiting, selection, and matching process
  • Works with each mentoring pair to provide resources and resolve any issues
  • Communicates regularly with mentors, mentorees, and mentoree managers
  • Provides training both initially and during the program
  • Obtains reports from mentors, mentorees, and mentoree managers on program goals and results
  • Conducts an evaluation to determine the program’s effectiveness
  • Communicates program results to participants and upper management
  • Conducts separate meetings with mentors, mentorees, and mentoree managers to determine program progress and need for further assistance
  • Reviews program guidelines and makes appropriate changes to enhance program effectiveness
  • Markets the mentoring program to appropriate staff to generate interest in participation and gain support
  • Conducts mentoree manager orientation to explain program goals and the roles of mentors, mentorees, and mentoree managers in the program
  • Performs other duties that may arise from the mentoring program that are necessary for program success
